Sam turns 8yrs old !!!

For Sam's birthday we choose something we have never done. One of the girl's wishes this year was to learn how to roller skate. Now I haven't done this in over 20 yrs. I am not as young as I use to be. My knees can tell you the same story. The girls, Dusty and I got on skates and skated for almost 3 hours. After falls, not being able to stop, and learning how to do the hooky pooky on skates it was time to go. Thank the Lord no one broke anything. We left with a few bruises, a sore knee, and a strange circle on Dusty's bottom. We had a great time. The girl's want to wear butt pads the next time we go. You mean I have to do this again? I ask.
After we left we all went to Red Lobster for Dinner. The girls made friends with the Lobsters. They now want a pet Lobster...I said a lobster's only good friend is melted butter. It is hard to believe that Sam is eight. Where have all the years gone?

babies update at Reidhill

We went out today to see all the new babies. They are so cute. I had to make sure the girl's pockets were empty when we left. There were little calves, kids, and fuzzy ewes. It seems like everywhere you turn around you see a new baby.

The girl's 1st dance

The girl's 1st dance???? Yes it was a father's & daughter's dance. The area schools were putting it together at the YMCA. When the girls mentioned this I thought it was crazy put I listened. But they had it all planned out. Sam would go with HO, Jenna with Dusty, and Tori with Donny. NO problem at all they thought. I told them we needed to make sure all the boys didn't have plans. So when I called they said yes as soon as I said the girls wanted something. So last night the girls dressed up...you know in jeans and t-shirts and the boys showed up..you know in their boots and the 6 of them went to the dance. The Bear and I were not allowed to go because we were over the age limit for the girls. So we counted the hours wondering if they were having a good time. Well 9:30 rolled around and the blue bus came home with smiling faces and laughter. We were told that some did the macoroni, the girls did the chicken dance, everyone did the village people's YMCA, and one guy jumped rope. I would have loved to see them all dance and see Dusty jumping rope. It was a great time by all I was told. The girls are even planning for next year.

Backroads with the Bear & Ho

THE BEAR WENT OVER THE MOUNTAIN. THE BEAR WENT OVER THE MOUNTAIN. THE BEAR WENT OVER THE MOUNTAIN....TO SEE WHAT SHE COULD SEE.
So what did she see...ELK.

Groundhog Day

OK...I need someone to explain something to me. I was always raised believing only Fools and Yankees predict the weather, I which I am neither. So why do we once a year listen to a rodent about the weather? Our local groundhog or whistlepig said we will have six more weeks of winter. I am about done with winter I would have been glad to hear spring is on it way. But no Nibbles the groundhog came of his carrier and told Andi McDowell that winter is still here. Yes we had our local celebrate come out and tell us about groundhogs. She said she talks groundhog. Well you might be a redneck if you say something like that out loud. The girls meet her. They said she was real nice and pretty but they didn't know she was famous. She was just sitting on the hay next to them. We stayed at the barn and did a round of rodent triva. Now I can tell you how big a groundhog is, how long they will live, and how many little pigs they have at one time. Needless to say I am not smarter than the girls because they knew most of the answers. But our family still won the game with the most correct answers. Are you wondering what the prize is when you win rodent triva? We won a game of pick up sticks. You know, only in NC.
