We party until the cows come home
It is hard and dirty work on getting the cows ready for the fair. We walk the cows, tug the cows, brush the cows, and the girls pretend to be judges for their sisters all to show these big things. It takes about 2 hours to get thru the cycle of all 3 cows. You have 1 in the cement circle, see you have to have your cow willing to walk in a circle, be able to stop when told, and be able to set her up and talk to the judge. Once that cow is done it gets tied to the outside post to be watered and brushed, see the judge will come up and touch everywhere on the cow and the cow just has to be held during all this. After that they are tied in the barn to eat their supper. I bet that part is the cow's favorite time. But the girls and the cows have come a long way since last week. Jenna's cow is 8 months old (winter heifer), Tori's cow is 7 months old (winter heifer), and Sam's cow is 5 months (spring heifer). They weigh about 600 lbs and the girls are leading them on a halter made of rope. Very daring. We will keep working with them this next week and give them a bath this coming weekend. Show time is Sept 12, 13, &14th.
