Jimmy Wayne

One of our organizations we wanted to help was the Jimmy Wayne-CRKA foundation. Jimmy touched our hearts when we meet him at a Toys for Tots concert. He is the reason we started this 12 months of giving this year. One of my favorite quotes from him is "It is not were you have been but where you are going". Here is his story...There was hardly a dry eye when Jimmy told his story of being raised on the streets and living in foster homes or group homes. As he always does, he tried to thank as many people as possible for helping him fulfill his dreams to be a musical artist in Nashville. At times, he had to pause due to overwhelming emotion, but he managed to get his point across to many of the kids and some adults in the audience. He told everyone about how he had lived with the Costner family and how they had helped him mature into a responsible adult. He also told how when both Mr. and Mrs. Costner died, how much he missed them and loved them and appreciated their influence in his life. One of our volunteers, at least, had the for sight to bring tissues and shared what she had with those of us who still cry even though we've heard Jimmy's testimonial dozens of times. (Thanks Brenda). And of course, so many of Jimmy's songs touch the heart and soul one just cannot help but feel every emotional word of them. That's one of Jimmy's many talents is to touch the spirit in such a way that his music often reminds us of our own difficult challenges in life. But they are also uplifting in that you always have an opportunity to do more with your life. It's like that old cliche: "God never shuts one door without opening another." Life is filled with opportunities-it's up to us to seek them out. Even if people disappoint us, God is always there for us to depend upon.
If you get the chance check out his site or just turn on the radio. http://www.jimmywayne.com/
One of the things they asked for was stuffed animals to throw to the foster kids in the crowd. With the help of the church we brought 88 stuffed animals for the cause. The girls helped make posters and I help set up. It was an amazing day.
