not what we wanted for christmas
I went to the feed store later in the day to talk to Donny and he didn't understand how we lost 2 at one time. I was told to worm them to see if that helps. About an hour later Dusty called to get the worming medicine and he was going to check the other 2 goats.
He thinks the boys were playing around and head butted the door. They got dain bamgen. As Tori said that wasn't to smart.
After we got home we found out that Sam's hamster, Frances, escaped. There were no openings for her cage to exit from but she did. Sam said she got out because she is magic....you know she came from the North Pole. We have looked everywhere, but the cat won't look me in the eyes. She doesn't have a good alibi either. So we are looking for her and if we don't find it we will get another. Never a boring day here on the farm.
We went to go see "Marley & Me" at the new movie place last night. It was a great movie but sad. Kinda hit the nail on the head after the loss of our animals. Life is adventure, the people and animals you have in your life will come and go but the memories will always be there!
Teaching Right
Teaching Right
She asked me if I had kids & when I said I did she said make sure you teach them what's right. & I said how will I know? & she nodded & said, good point, just don't teach them any obvious wrong then.

twas the night before christmas on the funny farm
Twas the night before Christmas,
when all through the farm
not a creature was stirring
not event the rabbits.
The feed buckets were hung
by the stalls with care.
In hopes that St Nick
soon would be there;
The girls were nestled all
snug in their beds.
While visions of hamsters and birds
danced in their heads;
And MaMa Bear in her Flax
and Ho in his PJ's
had all just settled down
for a long winter's nap.
When out in the barn
there arose such a clatter.
The girls sprang from
their beds to see what
was the matter.
Away to the window
they flew like a flash.
Tore open the shutters
and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast
of the new fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid day
to the objects below.
When what to their wondering eyes
should appear,
But all the farm animals
singing Christmas carols.
With the little chickens
chucking so lively and load.
We knew in a moment
it most be a barn party outside.
They danced on the hay bales
and swung from the loft.
They whistled and shouted
and came when you called
them by name-
Now Monty, now Trixie,
Now Robb and MooMoo!
On Diseal, on Hoofalou,
On Pumpkin and Ta rter too!
To the top of the hay barn
to the top of the feed bags.
They here dancing, dancing,
dancing them all.
As the pigs and the rabbits
sang along.
When they sang all the
courses of "O Holy Night"
You could hear them up at
the house and down to
the barn this night.
And then, in a twinkling
We heard on the roof
the prancing and pawing
of each little hoof.
As we drew in our hands,
and was turning around
It was Pearl and AA
kicking and dancing around.
They dressed in their Santa hats
dancing along.
As the kittens were humming
all of the songs.
A bundle of wool
could be seen everywhere
as the sheep were tap dancing
on the top of the tin.
Their eyes-how they twinkled
Their dimples how merry.
Their cheeks were like roses,
their noses like cherries.
Their droll little mouths
were drawn up like a bows,
and their beards on their chins
were as white as the snow.
The clump of some hay was
held tight in their teeth,
and they danced in a circle
shaped like a wreath.
They had a broad face
and a little round belly.
That shock when they
laughed like a bowl
full of jelly.
They were chubby and plump
aright jolly old elves.
And we laughed when we saw them
in spite of ourselves.
A wink of their eyes
and a twist of their heads.
Soon gave us to know
we had nothing to d read.
We spoke not a word
to anyone we knew.
We went straight back
to our houses
and settled down back
in our beds
hoping the noise would soon end.
As the dust settled down
and the animals fell asleep
everything seemed normal
as we all went to sleep.
But then Daisy
sprang from her pen-
jumped on top of the barn
and gave a loud snort
Happy Christmas to all,
and all a good night!

Christmas Holiday
If I decorate my house perfectly with lovely plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights, and shiny glass balls, but do not show love to my family - I’m just another decorator.
If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals, and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family - I’m just another cook.
If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home, and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to my family - It profits me nothing.
If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties, and sing in the choir’s cantata but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.
Love stops the cooking to hug the child.
Love is kind, though harried and tired.
Love doesn’t envy another home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.
Love doesn’t yell at the kids to get out of the way.
Love doesn’t give only to those who are able to give in return, but rejoices in giving to those who can’t.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
Love never fails. Video games will break; pearl necklaces will be lost; golf clubs will rust. But giving the gift of love will endure.

Christmas Caroling
The church group all went Christmas Caroling last night. We had the youth, the middle, and the Lambs. With adults, we had 24 people singing. We went to sing at 16 houses, one place we caught up with one of our elders of the church in the retirement home's dining hall and got to sing to the whole room, over 100 people. At another home we got to sing to one lady and she has on the phone with one of our other elders, who was visiting her family in another state, caroling in stereo. I guess you can say we were speed caroling, we hit all these places in 4 hours. You have to sing and then of coarse stay to eat the holiday goodies they made you. After we sang, we all went to dinner, we need something to eat besides something sweet. It was a great time all together, even when it started to rain. We had kids from as young as 8 to as old at 18. It sure gets you in a Christmas Spirit!
Sam's party
Sam's class had a Christmas party at school Friday. I got to help serve snacks for the party. Those kids had so much sugar I felt bad for the bus riders that afternoon. We watched "The Best Worst Christmas Pageant Ever". It was so cute I had not seen it since Jenna was in 4th grade. Sam got to wear her PJ's to school. Ho Ho found her some new ones to wear. He did a great job, thanks Ho. Doesn't she look cute!

Kids Christmas Party
After church Sunday we hosted a Kids party. This was a chance for the parents to go finish their Christmas shopping or errands. We served lunch to them, Jenna made fresh chicken nuggets with the help of Phil, we watched "The Polar Express", eat cookies and drank hot cocoa, and had a visit from Old Santa Claus. All the kids got their own Santa hats and we sang Happy Birthday before we cut the birthday cake for Jesus.(thanks for the idea Aunt Dee Dee, I'll try to keep up the tradition) Most of the kids wore their PJs and had a great time. Our mission was Back Pack for kids. It is a program that Helping Hands does. They pack a back pack of individual foods, that a kid can open, on Friday afternoon for kids that don't have food to eat during the weekend. Then the kid brings back the back pack Monday and they do it all again the following weekend. It is hard to believe that they help over 500 kids in Buncombe, Hendersonville, and Haywood county.
Saturday afternoon
Saturday afternoon the girls and I went to Groce United Methodist Church to go through their "Return to Bethlehem". You walk into a village of Roman soldiers and shop keepers all talking about the strange light and the talk of the town. At the end you are at the Inn were the Shepard's are going to see a baby. They have live animals for you to touch and you see Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus in the stable. It reminds you the true meaning of Christmas.
That night the girls and I went to hear and see the "Singing Christmas Tree", the Bear was unable to go because she got sick. I remember the 1st time I went to hear the singing Christmas tree, it was in 1st Baptist Church of Daytona. Arden Presbyterian puts on a great show and it was amazing. They did the 12 days of Christmas in sections, we were the 4 calling birds and had to stand up and move our arms like the chicken dance. They ended the night with 1 candle brought to the front of the church and from there all of our candles were lite. You would light your candle and then the next person. It is like when you spread the good news you take it in and then you pass it on to the person next to you. After every ones candle was lighted we sang "Silent Night"..
4 H bake off
Jenna made cranberry chocolate walnut muffins and cherry bon bons
she placed 2nd in the bon bons and 3rd in the muffins
Tori made a Texas sheet cake
she placed 2nd for her cake from scratch
Sam made Pecan Kiss cookies
since Sam is not 9 yet is a Cloverbud and can't be judged yet but she got a green 4 H ribbon
Christmas lights
Ho, Bear, the girls and I went to see Christmas lights on Friday evening. We had a great time and wonder how much is some of these peoples electric bills. There were no National Lampoon lights but our favorite was Lake Julian. The city put lights all over the park and you drive through it. We saw polar bears, penguins playing hockey, and Santa fishing.
Toys 4 Tots Concert

Then Jimmy Wayne hit the stage, unbelievable. If any of you get the chance you need to hear his songs. He also talked about his life. He makes you understand that it is not were you came from, or the trouble you have been in, it is about what you are going to do from here on out. He has a "FTW" tattoo, at 15 it meant something else but now it stands for FAITH IS THE WAY. You might be going through a bad time right now but there is someone in the world with less than you and much more troubles. Listen to "Paper Angles" or "I love you this much" you will get his message. The girls got to meet him, not bad for a Carolina boy from right down the road.
We had a great time and we got to help the kids in Western Carolina.
